Brief History
AlumTalks.com went live in May 2011 and originally featured high quality video interviews with NU alums that were enthusiastic about giving their career stories and advice to current students. Since then, our media has shifted more towards text articles and photos, but our mission has remained constant: to provide genuine unbiased career stories that spark conversations. Organizationally, our video production team was phased out in June 2011 and we have phased in our marketing and journalism team during Q4 in 2011. Throughout the process, we have grown our content to over 50 articles and the website now generates (on average) 1000 unique visitors per month that spend an average of 3 minutes on the site.
In December of 2011 we began to network with people who we saw as great candidates for our Board of Advisors. We also interviewed and recruited writers from the Medill School of Journalism to permanently join our editorial staff. Our current team consists of 17 current Northwestern students:
Co-founders: 2
Marketing: 3
Alumni Sourcing: 2
Writers: 8
Editors: 2
Board of Advisors: (5)
The core management team is in the process of being solidified. We are hoping to have commitments for these VP roles: Content, Technology, Marketing, Sales, Operations, and Human Resources.
